Kevin Lewis
Sax

If Kevin's face, and sound, are familiar maybe it's because you've seen him with the uber-popular metro soul-jazz group THE VAMPS. Or perhaps you've seen him in court (more on that later*). Kevin earned a jazz degree at USM under the tutelage of the legendary RAOUL JEROME while honing his chops with the band BACKSTREET (whose roster also included future metro jazz talent BARRY LEACH, CYNTHIA SPEER and LISA PALMER). After a year on the road it was back to school to get a law degree* before scoring gigs with award-winning vocalist/pianist EDEN BRENT and later the aforementioned VAMPS.

According to Raphael, upon hearing Kevin speak and then play sax (as you will on Sunday) you get a sense that here indeed is a musician who "plays his personality". Adds Raphael ," Kevin rocks, he swings, and he does it without pretense". This is in evidence at Vamps gigs when he plays and sings a fan favorite...his own "TALKIN' TO MYSELF" (which is so funky it shouldn't be legal*). And what is this musical barrister's closing statement? "I hope to spend the rest of my life making music as much as possible."

Case closed.
