Featuring Maurice Turner

After April's record-breaking 17th Annual Township Jazz Festival our series is back in business with a brand new session featuring one of Mississippi's most talented and interesting Jazz musicians. Maurice Turner, who will be making his first visit to the Jazz Spot, is a trumpeter of the first order as well as a composer, producer, and respected member of Mississippi's Jazz community. His passion for music has been recognized by Jazz luminaries like Cassandra Wilson, the Marsalis brothers, and many others. Recently, our host Raphael Semmes found himself performing with Maurice in a group assembled by Dr. David Miller to open or Bobby Watson at the Alcorn State University Jazz Festival and said, "After catching up and playing with Maurice I was thrilled he agreed to be our guest on the Jazz Spot. He's a fine player and wonderful, positive person everyone will enjoy."

Maurice will be accompanied by Knight Bruce on piano, Maya Kyles on drums, and Raphael on bass. Enjoy jazz, coffee, and some conversation this Saturday ONLY at Fusion Coffeehouse! Early arrival is recommended for best seating.
